OLD PLANTATION COTTAGE

- Residential

- Bespoke new build

- Architect: Cowper Griffith Architects

- Location: Gamlingay, Cambridgeshire

An impressive custom-designed new home development set within a County Wildlife Site.

The project involved the considerate demolition of the original outdated and poorly functioning house. Particular care and attention taken for the local wildlife and environmental factors.

The new construction was a bespoke, high-quality, sustainable and energy efficient residence complete with garage and annexe. The project was designed to be energy efficient and incorporated an air source heat pump to lower energy costs for the clients.

The development features a rustic plain clay tile roof, incorporating the installation of zinc on the annexe and walkways. Hand made bricks and render systems on the external walls and large glazed panels meant that the construction detailing between the interfaces had to be carefully considered at design stage and a high-quality workmanship on site during construction.

Materials used includes: coloured render, aluminium, brick, oak and larch
